At Sustainn, we continue driving the transition toward a more sustainable and circular future. That’s why we are proud to announce our participation as partners in the GreenPATh R&D project (Circular production of green energy from agri-food by-products through high-temperature processes). This strategic initiative aims to transform agri-food waste into renewable energy carriers with high added value.
What is GreenPATh?
GreenPATh will develop innovative technologies to make use of agri-food by-products and convert them into advanced biofuels and syngas, and, in turn, use these renewable energy vectors to generate and store thermal and electrical energy.
The consortium brings together leading entities such as CENER, la Universidad Pública de Navarra (UPNA), TAFCO (project coordinator), Greendur, Harivenasa, Urzante, the NAGRIFOOD cluster and Sustainn.
The project will last two and a half years (2025–2027) and is part of the Strategic R&D Projects 2025–2028 call by the Government of Navarre, co-financed at 40% by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the ERDF Operational Programme 2021–2027 of Navarre.

Sustainn’s role in GreenPATh
Our contribution to the project is structured around two main pillars:
- Regulatory risk analysis
Sustainn leads the study of regulatory frameworks and legislative trends that affect the technologies and products developed under GreenPATh. Beginning in 2025, we will conduct an initial analysis of the regulations applicable to the processes and their applications, expanded in 2027 with a review of potential legislative changes and regulatory risks that may influence the industrialization and commercialization of the solutions. This will help anticipate barriers and ensure the project’s legal and market viability.
- Sustainability and circularity assessment
We coordinate and carry out the comprehensive measurement of environmental, social, and economic impacts of the proposed solutions, applying internationally recognized methodologies. Through a detailed Value Stream Mapping, we identify critical parameters in all processes, analyze alternative supply and distribution scenarios, and evaluate circularity-related risks and opportunities. This approach ensures that the technologies developed under GreenPATh are sustainable, scalable, and aligned with current regulatory and market trends
A step further in sustainable innovation
Through our participation, we reaffirm our commitment to placing sustainability and circularity at the core of innovation. GreenPATh not only seeks to produce green energy but also to lay the foundations for a more resilient, efficient, and decarbonized industrial model.
We will continue sharing the project’s progress, insights, and outcomes.
